Movie booking app

Project scope

Challenge: Current cinema apps are not offering all of the options in one app. Trying to find your favourite seats can be challenging.
Solution: Creating the place where you find different movie places to book perfect cinema seats!

Project duration:

October 2021- February 2022

Understanding the user

Users have issues with searching all cinema apps for a perfect seat.

User journey map

Ana’s map of her journey showed that there is opportunity to create app that suggests the closest cinema for the user to go to.

Starting the design

  • Paper wireframes
  • Digital wireframes
  • Low-fidelity prototype
  • Usability studies
Crazy eights sketches
Low Fi prototype connection matrix

Using the completed set of digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The primary user flow and also secondary flow for possible user journey.

Usability study findings

I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.

Round 1 Findings

  1. Users tend to go to cinema for a specific movie. This should be enabled so user can do exact what they want.
  2. Movie goers tend to plan seeing a movie on a specific date. This should be easy to do.
  3. This study suggests that 86% of users report being bothered by having to create new accounts on websites.

Round 2 Findings

  1. Users prefer to have the option to favourite their seats for future booking
  2. The available cinema suggestion is the option most of the participants favoured
  3. Users appreciate if the payment methods include card and online services
